Leroy W. Fairchild – Gold – 1874

Leroy W. Fairchild combo, in excellent condition (nib needs to be replaced). Appears to be gold plated but there is no wear and no markings to confirm. “Fairchild” is engraved on one side of the barrel extension piece; and “Patented Sept. 15, 1874” is engraved on the other side of the extension piece. This is a rather unusual piece as that patent date refers to a patent by Richard M. Collard. Presumably, he assigned the patent to Fairchild at some point.
