G. Riddle – “Patent G. Riddle London”

Gabriel Riddle slider pencil. It is in excellent condition, no damage; imprint is crisp and clear; hobnail seal top; there are four inner chambers to hold spare lead. In December, 1836, Mordan and Riddle dissolved their partnership and in March, 1837, Riddle posted notice in “The Register of Engravings” that his pencil cases would be stamped “Patent G. Riddle Maker London”. This suggests that this pencil is one of his later ones.
