John Sheldon’s multi combo from 1842, containing pencil, pen, sovereign gauge, and weigh scales. It was marketed as the “Unique Pocket Companion”. It is marked John Sheldon who was a Birmingham Maker and has the patent number 1184 with the date April 8th 1842 and is fabricated from German silver. It has a slide action pen & pencil with a seal end that is removable and conceals a spring balance and clip which is calibrated 1d-4d and 1/2oz – 2oz. It is in good condition with the slide actions and the lead propelling mechanism working as they should and the spring balance and clip are also in good working order.
