William Lund Patentee – Ivory & Gold

This style of pencil dates to the mid-1800’s. The patent for this mechanism was purchased by William Lund from William Riddle (Gabriel’s son), who patented it in 1848. This example is ivory, with solid gold trim pieces. It is stamped on the barrel “Lund Patentee London”. There is also an “S” after the London and I’m not sure what it signifies (perhaps lead size?). It is in mint condition; no cracks or chips, the gold is perfect, there is lead in the barrel.
