S. Mordan & Co. – “S. Mordan & Co. Patentees”

Early Mordan slider pencil in excellent condition.  Makers imprint is crisp and clear. The “S. Mordan & Co Patentees” on the barrel does not appear in any references to Mordan makers’ marks, including the KB Collection summary of Mordan Hallmarks. From that, I am assuming that it is somewhat rare and likely dates this pencil to one of the earlier Mordan periods, perhaps between 1830 and 1845. Bloodstone inset in finial. Finial can be removed for lead storage.
