De La Rue – Travel Inkwell – Ransome’s Patent

Mid to late 19th century travel inkwell. The De La Rue & Co. Ransome’s Patent (Robert Ransome) travel inkwells don’t come along very often and they are often in poor condition. This one is near mint. The wood “frame” has no damage, and the inkwell itself works fine. Complete with original glass insert. The nickel silver inkwell pushes upward and uses the wooden frame as a support stand. The inkwell is opened using the push button and the glass insert is sealed via the rubber insert in the lid. Robert Ransome filed the patent for this design (No. 933) on the 16th of April, 1861. See patent drawing in pics.
