Pewter Travel Inkwell with Tortoise Shell Lid – French

French pewter inkwell, with tortoise shell lid and blank gold crest insert. It has been well used but is still full of dried ink. The lid screws on and has a leather pad on the inside of the lid to “seal” the inkpot while not in use. Likely late 17th century to mid 18th century.
