Horn or Bone – Pencil, Pen, or Nib Holder

This item was included with the acquisition of an inkwell from France. It appears to be a portion of a horn and was likely used as a pen holder given the ink stains in the base of the item. Somewhat oval in shape, there is a crack down one side but it doesn’t affect its use or charm. It is a simple but beautifully done handmade item, likely from the 18th or early 19th centuries.
