Richard Mosley – Silver – 1845

Interesting example of a Richard Mosley pencil that is clearly a close copy of the Josiah Longmore patent (#9719), where the upper outer barrel is pulled on in order to extend the pencil point. Barleycorn pattern on barrel. Working order. Imprinted “Mosley London”. Amethyst capstone. Finial removal reveals 4 tubes for storing spare lead. There is a small “pit” in the lower barrel that appears to be a manufacturing defect (barely noticeable at just over 1mm in diameter).
